Sabrina is a 22-year-old freelance photographer whose dream in life was to start a photography business. The first time a camera was placed in her hand, the dream was born. When she was younger, she would take pictures of anything and everything. To this day, she still has a stash of all of the pictures she took in her childhood. When she got a little older, she started off taking pictures of her godchildren and family pets, but she was mostly interested in still-lives and sunsets. Even though she loved to take a great sunset picture, she knew it wouldn’t take her too far. Never did she think that her dream would come together so quickly! In December of 2008, her sister gave her the opportunity to jump start her business. She had a friend that needed some new pictures to put in her portfolio. This was the break Sabrina needed!
For the last three months, Sabrina has been trying to take her business to the next level. She tried finding some apprentice jobs at local photography studios without any luck. Then one night, a friend of hers told her that their band was playing at a local bar, The Green Room, that night and would love for her to be there. Of course she was going to be there, so she asked him if it would be okay to take some pictures while she watched the show. That is how the ball started to roll. That night after her friend’s band played, she met a young man named Jon, who was promoting the main show that night, Mother’s Everlasting Soul. He had seen her working and invited her to also take pictures of the band he was promoting so they could post them on the band’s website and his own promotion company, Dirty Girl Promotions’, website.
Needless to say, this was the day that Sabrina had been waiting for. Before the night was over, she had booked four more photo shoots and knew she had more to come! From then on is still unpredictable. She hopes that this start will take her all the way to her dream of opening a photography studio here in Covington, Louisiana. With your help, it may just happen!
